Umoya Software is currently in the pre-Beta phase of its migration to the enterprise level Symfony Framework.
Umoya made the strategic decision to move from their custom ‘uniti’ framework to the internationally recognised Symfony Framework in December last year. Umoya Software’s custom ‘uniti’ framework has served its time ever since it was the underpinning framework for Umoya’s Disaster Management System used by the National Disaster Management Centre for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup in South Africa.
The primary reasons for the move are the new framework’s ability to handle enterprise projects, its rigorous coding requirements and rules, as well as the availability of developers with Symfony experience and skills.
So far the FireWeb suite of modules is the first migration in the pipeline and should be complete by the end of May 2016. The rest will follow.
